Highcliff Elementary School

The future looked uncertain when the Township rejected North Hills School District’s request for the zoning variance that would enable the renovation and expansion of Highcliff Elementary. T&W redeveloped the site design in a way which combined the site facilities of the school and the adjacent church. Parking areas which were previously planned to be constructed behind the school on the steep slope were relocated to the church’s property. This enabled the teachers to park in the church lot during the week.

The project included the complete renovation of all educational spaces, as well as new mechanical, electrical, plumbing and roofing systems. The two-story addition is approximately 45,664 sf and includes new classrooms, a new library with an adjacent computer work area, a music suite and an art room. The existing multi‐purpose room was expanded to provide a new stage area and storage facilities, as well as new bleacher seating. Highcliff Elementary and its surroundings have become a focal point for the community.
